Oak Hill Hospital Recognized by Salvation Army as the “Corporate Volunteer” in 2008

Spring Hill, Florida (February 27, 2009) – Oak Hill Hospital has announced that it has been recognized by the Salvation Army as the “Corporate Volunteer” for 2008 for Oak Hill Hospital’s untiring service and loyalty to the Thanksgiving Basket Drive and the Christmas Angel Program. Once again Oak Hill Hospital associates and volunteers donated a total of 196 food baskets to needy residents in our community. In addition to the Salvation Army the following charities received baskets: Catholic charities, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Mid-Florida Communities, Salvation Army, and Victoria’s Life Outreach.

During Oak Hill’s annual Christmas Angel Program 115 angels were adopted during Christmas of 2008. Oak Hill Hospital’s Associate Activity Committee members were recognized and acknowledged at the Salvation Army’s award luncheon on Friday, February 6 and were presented with a plaque on February 23.

Oak Hill Hospital has been serving the Nature Coast since 1984. It is the largest medical facility in Hernando and Citrus County (204 acute care beds) and offers Hernando County’s only comprehensive heart program including open heart surgery.

Approximately 300 physicians, 900 associates, and 300 volunteers comprise Oak Hill Hospital’s health care delivery team.

Oak Hill has achieved distinction as the:

  • First and only Chest Pain Center in Hernando and Citrus County accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
  • First primary stroke center to be fully accredited by the Joint Commission in Citrus and Hernando County.
  • First hospital in the area to be recognized as an accredited cancer institute by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS).
